New serial: The Rented Dark, Part One — The Adjuster
In Lowmere, people do not dream. They let. Six million sleepers lie in the racks with a blue light ticking behind the ear while Tallow's work runs through their heads: tides, prices, the weight of the sea on the wall.
The Rented Dark is book one of The Lowmere Cycle. Part One, The Adjuster, is now free to read.
Adjuster Teo Brask climbs Rack 9 at four in the morning to a boy who has been dead for fifty-six minutes. Housekeeping has already started tidying. The moths do not know what to do with people who have no pip. On the pod ceiling are eleven spirals.
This edition contains the prologue and chapters 1–9. New chapters will go up as they are written.
